Meet The Mothers

My name is Adenike Babatunde. I am a physical therapist assistant and aspiring jack of all trades. I love to cook, dance and travel in my spare time. I have a passion for teaching others how to stay physically active in a busy world. If I'm not trying to get some sleep I'm usually playing with my kiddos.

Aminah Edwards was born in Mobile, Al.  She currently works in Healthcare Administration.  She resides in Plano, Tx. She is currently married and has one son. Her interests include singing, laughing, reading, and spending time with her family. Her Journey with Motherhood has been wonderful. Even through all the ups and downs some of her greatest joy has come from being a mom! 

Native to Basseterre, St. Kitts, Amanda Thompson spent most of her childhood years living in St. Croix, USVI, before relocating to the USA in 2000. She is a wife, a mother of two, and an Engineer, who is constantly tapping into her creativity to find and sustain the joys of life. Motherhood has unlocked an area of life that has highlighted the importance of self-awareness, acceptance, confidence, self-care, and love, which has rejuvenated Amanda’s focus and purpose in life. With God as her guide, and her kids as her drive, she strives to build and sustain generational health, wealth, and awareness, teaching her kids early the lessons she learned late.

Ayesha Bright is a writer, filmmaker, and emergency management specialist living in Los Angeles. She is the youngest of eight children born in Houston, Texas to Sierra Leonean immigrants, and an alum of the University of Southern California's film and television production program, where she nurtured a love of telling stories about magic and the intersection between African and Black American cultures. When Ayesha is not reading, writing, or collaborating on projects, she enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time with her son at the beach, and buying scented candles.

Beryl Otchere is a wife, mother of two, dentist, follower of Christ, blogger, and content creator. Her family is from Ghana but she grew up in Dallas, Texas, and currently resides in San Antonio, TX. She has been married to her husband Prince for the past seven years and together they have a three-year-old daughter and one year son. Her passions involve the intersection of content creation, writing, Christian inspiration, and the field of dentistry. Beryl started the Bloom, Beryl blog in October 2018 when she was inspired to write about the things she was learning as she bloomed where she was planted as a dental student and new wife. Her motherhood journey has been full of triumphs and challenges and she loves the opportunity to share this with others online and create spaces for open and honest dialogue.

My name is Claudine Page-Busby. I am married and I am a new mother of a baby girl. Her name is Ianna Page-Busby she is five and a half months old. I am a working mom and I also love to have fun and chill.

Courtney Bass is a graphic design and communications professional, Realtor, content creator, cat lady, and mother of one. She was born and raised in Texas and has been a proud Houstonian for over 10 years. She enjoys traveling with family, creating, yoga, and spending time with friends and loved ones.

Courtney’s motherhood journey has been unique and challenging, as well as equally beautiful and rewarding. She is excited to share her experience and perspective of the different facets of motherhood, and what she thinks are the greatest gifts along the way.

Deborah Andrews is a retired teacher from Trinidad and Tobago. She is also the wife of a Minister of
Religion and the proud Mother of two young men who are both professionals in their respective fields.
She is passionate about child development, education, and reaching young people. As such, she continues assisting students outside of the classroom as she sees it as her lifelong duty. Her
Motherhood Journey can be described as inspirational, purpose-driven, empowering, challenging, a lifetime adventure, and satisfying. She gives God the praise for being at her side through this wonderful Motherhood Journey.

Dominique Letrice Beale is a wife and proud mother of two beautiful children. She received her
Doctorate in Pharmacy from Texas Southern University and enjoys using her expertise to offer
lifesaving medical services to her community. Dominique grew up in a close-knit family and
enjoys spending time reading, traveling, and hosting game nights with family and friends.
Becoming a mother has given an added purpose to Dominique’s life and has been her greatest
challenge and blessing.

Iesha Hodges is a pure soul.  She has a heart for The Most High. She’s a mother, a Cosmetologist, and the owner of Ana Beauty Styles Beauty Salon where compassion, peace, and love are spread throughout the environment. She’s also a Health Care Professional, and she’s been in the profession for 14 years. Throughout her years she has had experience in Pain Management, Wound Care & Behavior Health. About 6 years ago, Iesha decided to venture out into the Beauty Industry which has always been a passion of hers. Making others feel good brings joy to her life.  For her future ventures, Iesha looks to perusing her education in Holistic Medicine and watching her children grow to become great adults! 

Lizette Robin is a wife, mother, child of God, and business owner. Her last few years have been spent in Houston, Texas but she was born and raised on the beautiful Island of Dominica. She gets joy from taking care of her family and aspiring to be the best she can be every day. One of Lizette's passions is traveling, she plans on crossing off States, and countries one at a time. Her love for travel is not only to see places but to immerse in the culture and to indulge in God's creation. Being a mother for the last twelve years has taught her lessons that university would not have taught her. It’s a challenging journey that creates beautiful moments with constant laughter and love. She trusts God through her motherhood journey as she depends on Him daily as a guide.

Melissa Habukiha is a Clinical Quality Program Manager in the profession of Healthcare Administration. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and now resides in Houston, TX, where she met her husband of 5 years. In 2009 she graduated from Oakwood University with a Bachelor's in Health Science. In 2016 she graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Master's in Business Administration and a Master's in Healthcare Administration. Her passions include traveling, exercising, and DIY projects. As a mother of 1 under 1, Melissa spends most of her free time navigating the nuances of motherhood. She and her husband thank the Lord daily for the blessing of a happy and healthy baby.

Ranique John is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She is the Founder, Owner, and C.E.O. of My Crown Of Curls; a natural hair product company. She enjoys nature and adventure and has a wonderful time getting lost in different genres of books in her spare time.

Shahida Miranda Charlemagne-Octave was born on the Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia. She has been as Christian for over 28 years and is a lover of Christ. Ms. Charlemagne is an Attorney-at-Law and business owner, having opened her own law firm shortly after graduating from law school. In her spare time, when she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and loved ones.

Dr. Shirl Felder has been a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner for 13 years. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grambling State University in 1987, a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner track) from Prairie View A & M University in 2009, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in May 2019. Her passion is working with youth and underserved populations and educating them. Her mission is to provide quality, convenient, and affordable health care from a Christian perspective. She firmly believes that her career is her calling and considers it her ministry. She is the provider and owner of Grace Family Clinic, a family practice clinic in Missouri City, Texas since 2017. Additionally, she serves as a Graduate Nursing Clinical Education Specialist for several universities when precepting Nurse Practitioner students. 

Tracie Maitland is a wife, mother, and labor and delivery Registered Nurse. Tracie enjoys helping to bring new life into the world. Her number one passion is to see her family grow and thrive in Christ. Tracie shares the journey of her first year of motherhood, the joys, challenges, and beautiful moments of being a Black mother. 

Vereesha Goodridge is a mother of two and a recently promoted reservations agent for two prestigiously known hotel groups in Oxford. Her family is originally from Anguilla but resides in the United Kingdom. Vereesha’s love for hospitality has allowed her to become one of the brand ambassadors for the company within a year of working with the brand. She has also been an employee of the month twice in 2021 and the employee of the year for 2022. With her continuous ambition that will continue to build and elevate, she is currently striving to become the general manager. 

Wendy Davis is a wife, mother of three, and a Pre-School Director living in Orlando, Florida. Although she was born and raised in Nairobi Kenya, Wendy later moved to Dallas, Texas where she met her husband, Richard Davis, and started a family shortly after graduating college in 2012. She now works as the Director at a Seventh-Day Adventist Preschool in Florida. Wendy has a passion for Early Childhood Education and mentoring young mothers. Having started her motherhood journey as a young mother herself, she is inspired to share her story in the hopes that other mothers, young and old, will be inspired not to give up on the Joy of motherhood no matter how challenging the journey gets. Her motherhood journey was greatly defined by the tragic loss of her unborn baby which gave her an even bigger reason to share her story.

My name is Esther Vanterpool and I love the Lord. I am from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia in the West Indies. I am a mother to three beautiful children and a mother-in-law to three more. I am blessed with two grandchildren whom I enjoy spending time with. My passions are singing and giving back through community service.
